Three days, four ties and one unforgettable final. Padel54's Emerald Rain ladies travelled to Italy for the Euro Padel League finals and came home with the trophy, and a story the club will be telling for a long time.
The trip began the way every good one does: a delayed flight, far too much luggage and a group chat that never went quiet. By the time the squad reached the courts overlooking Lake Como, the nerves had settled into something closer to excitement. This was the stage they had trained all season for.
Group play was tight. A narrow win on the opening morning settled the team, and from there the momentum built tie by tie. The semi-final went to a deciding set, saved on a point that will be replayed in the clubhouse for months. Padel is a team game, and on the biggest day of the season, Emerald Rain played like one.
The final
The final was everything the weekend deserved. Long rallies, big serves under pressure, and a crowd that grew louder with every change of ends. Two sets later, it was done. Hugs, tears, and a tricolour held high against the Italian sky.
Beyond the result, the weekend was a marker of how far the club has come. Two years ago Padel54 opened its doors as the first dedicated padel club in Northern Ireland. Now its players are winning silverware on the European stage, and inspiring the next group coming up through the academy.
